'Shots fired by officers' in Salem, man dies
SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man reportedly armed and firing gunshots in Salem died after responding law enforcement returned fire and hit him Friday morning,
The incident unfolded around 11 a.m. in the area of Arabian Avenue SE and Sorrel Court SE, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said in a release. Deputies were sent to the area after reports the man -- who has not been publicly identified -- was firing his gun.
Deputies rushed to the scene along with Salem police officers and Oregon State Police troopers. "Shots were fired by the officers," the Marion County Sheriff's Office said, but did not elaborate on any specifics.
No one from law enforcement was hurt, officials said,.
Because this is an officer-involved shooting, the lead investigative agencies are the Keizer Police Department and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
