Easy way to style your scarf to keep super warm so you don’t need to wear a hoodie or thick coat
SCARF season is among us.
The UK was hit with a sub-zero chill over the weekend as temperatures plunged as low as -5C.
And if you’re heading out in this weather, a scarf, hat and gloves are essential.
Most people wear their scarf looped around their neck – but what if you don’t have a hat and want to keep your head warm?
Luckily, one fashion whizz has shared how she styles a woolly scarf to act as a neck cover, ear muffs and hat all-in-one.
Taking to Instagram, Sara T shared what she called “the perfect way to wear your scarf”.
She starts by putting the scarf on backwards and then looping the ends round her neck, so they hang down her front.
Then, Sara tucks the ends of the scarf inside the neck loop.
This creates a make-shift hood at the back, which she loops over her head.
The style is best done using a bigger scarf so that the ‘hood’ fully covers your head.
“Maybe I’ll be able to wear a scarf sensibly now,” one viewer commented.
“This is a very smart idea,” a second said.
“Oh my God, this looks cosy,” a third penned.
One of the best things about scarves is they come in a range of materials, colours and cuts, meaning you don’t have to settle for itchy fabrics around your neck.
In the winter months, most of us reach for cosy wool scarves to beat minus temperatures.
Two weather warnings remained in place last night – a yellow ice alert in northern Scotland and a yellow rain warning in the northeast.
However, the Met Office assured that “brighter” conditions are on the way.
Its forecast for later in the week predicts: “Frost and fog clearing then bright spells on Wednesday.
“Wet and windy weather arriving from the southwest, pushing north and east into Thursday and Friday, with some initial hill snow.”
