I thought my car was ‘broken’ before I discovered ‘hidden’ dashboard button which upgrades your radio for FREE
A DRIVER thought his car was “broken” – before he discovered a “hidden” dashboard button which upgrades your radio for free.
Vauxhall Corsa owner Scott Mellors thought his aux port was broken until he found the “secret button”.
He had been pressing the “CD/MP3” button, but it did not launch the aux.
Posting on TikTok, Scott said: “Just a short thing. I had been thinking my aux port was broken.
“If I press CD/MP3, it doesn’t go to it – right?”
Scott’s dashboard screen flashed up with a “No CD” message, leaving him baffled.
But he then pressed the “FM/AM” button, which instantly launched the aux.
He said: “Turns out it’s this button. What?”
It comes as drivers are only just realising what the button with the “weird squiggles” on your dashboard really does – and it’s essential for winter.
A motoring whizz posted a TikTok clip about the traction control button, which shows a car on top of two squiggles with the word “OFF” next to it.
Traction control, which stops you from skidding, has been a requirement on all new motors since 2011.
You may well have never even noticed the traction control button – but it makes your car far safer.
Experts say there is rarely a good reason to switch off traction control while on the road in normal conditions.
The anti-skid system can stop you losing control before you are able to react behind the wheel.
But there are times when you might want to disable the system by pressing the button with the “weird squiggles”.
