‘Ugg sliders need to die,’ fashion pro slams as she lists the Winter trends everyone should be avoiding this season
Maisie also isn’t a fan of a very popular type of trainer…
FROM chunky boots to warm puffer jackets, we’ve all got our go-to wardrobe staples that we rely on every winter.
But according to a fashion fan named Maisie, there are five trends you should avoid this season…and it’s not good news if you’re a fan of Uggs.
“Just want to note that this is my personal opinion so please don’t get your knickers in a twist, but the first one absolutely will die on this hill…these Ugg Tasman slippers,” she begins, in a clip posted to TikTok (@mais.moss).
“They’re not supposed to be worn out of the house with an outfit – get your f***ing s*** together.
“To be fair, this is the only one I’m that passionate about but I just don’t get it – just wear a pair of boots or a normal pair of Uggs.
“I love Uggs and I have the short Ugg boots but these are so ugly and I’ve not seen anyone style them really nicely.”
Moving on, she also urges people to steer clear of the popular Samba OG trainers.
“This one’s going to ruffle a few feathers,” she admits.
“This one is actually personal preference, but I need something a bit chunkier.
“I wear a lot of wide legged, baggy stuff…and I just feel like they’re very thin, they’re very flat, there’s virtually no sole on it – so not for me in that sense.
“Obviously I’m aware in terms of the word ‘trend’ that these have been around for years and have been very popular for years and I can appreciate that but they suit a very specific sense of style.
“Now that they’ve become a popular trend, everyone’s trying to jump on it and you have to be aware of your own style.”
Maisie continues: “There’s a lot of people wearing these that don’t know how to style them.
“They are difficult to style and they just don’t look right.”
She goes on to say she doesn’t think they’ll be one of the top trends for very long because people will realise they’re “not very versatile.”
Maisie then moves on to discuss checked prints – including plaid, tweed and houndstooth.
“I really have a little bit of hatred for these prints and I always have,” she explains.
“…I’m not into that granny chic, again, a very specific sense of style….I would just avoid at all costs.”
Not stopping there, Maisie also offers her verdict on flared and bootcut jeans.
“If you are a shorter and curvier girl with chunky thighs which is me, I would absolutely avoid at all costs,” she advises.
“Honestly, they just look awful on that shape or body, and I can say that, because I’m talking about myself.
“I think they just make you look really short and stumpy.”
And last but not least on the fashion fan’s list is a long suede boho-style jacket with the fur trim.
“It’s not an absolute hate but I don’t think it’s going to be a trend that’s on top for long,” she explains.
“I’ve just seen these come and go and never stay around for that long and my advice would actually be to invest in more of a standard good quality, all fur jacket.
“Obviously don’t buy real fur new – either go faux fur or get vintage fur – they’re more versatile and have stuck around for centuries.”
The post has since gone viral, garnering an impressive 244k views and hundreds of very mixed comments from social media users.
“I feel attacked – catch me in my flared jeans, my houndstooth top paired with sambas and an afghan coat,” joked one.
A second penned: “Flared jeans look amazing on my pear shaped body, as long as they’re high wasted and the flare starts above the knee, not below like many I see.”
A third commented: “Totally disagree, flared jeans were made for us THICK girlies, makes everything look yum and juicy.”
Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “Check coats are incredibly versatile, they elevate an outfit. You can wear all black and then throw on a coat and scarf and boom.”
Another chimed in: “This is the first trends to avoid video I COMPLETELY agree with! Yes girl.”
And a further added: “Whhhhy are people wearing slippers outside though? Love Uggs but not slippers outside!”
