Actress Xochitl Gomez deserves to win the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy on “Dancing with the Stars.” That’s according to thousands of fans who voted in our poll at the end of “Semi-Finals.” Out of the five finalists competing in tonight’s finale, she was the people’s choice by a wide margin. Scroll down to see our complete poll results.
Almost half of all respondents (48.28%) said that Gomez is the rightful champ, which would be consistent with her scores over the course of the season. Through 10 weeks of competition, she topped the leaderboard six times. If her consistency on the dance floor continues through the finale, she’ll have nothing to worry about as far as the judges are concerned. The question is whether fans are just as enamored of her. If our poll is any indication, they definitely are.
Since the votes of viewers at home account for half of the show’s results, it’ll be interesting to see if the final results match our standings. Ranked second with 20.34% of the vote is “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix, who has overcome heartbreak and delivered stellar performances despite recent back strain that could inhibit some of her movements. Coming in third with 15.78% is Grammy winner Jason Mraz. He started the season strong and then struggled midway through the competition, but he came back strong in the last two weeks with perfect routines.
Charity Lawson is the fourth “Bachelorette” star to make the finals in the last five seasons, with two women from the show winning the Mirror Ball Trophy: Hannah Brown in season 28 and Kaitlyn Bristowe in season 29. But only 10.01% of fans voted for her in our poll, so perhaps the “Bachelor Nation” bump is wearing off. Rounding out our poll is underdog actress Alyson Hannigan with 5.59% of the vote. She’s the lowest scoring dancer of the final five, but she’s arguably the most improved dancer of the entire season when you compare where she is to where she started. We’ll find out tonight, though, if America as a whole ranks these celebs the same way our readers did.
