TO wear pants, or not to wear pants, is a question that’s been occupying the thoughts of one fitness fan.
She tried going commando in her gym leggings and was left baffled at the trend.
Why, she wondered, did other moms do it because, as far as she could see, it just created so many issues.
She felt so strongly about it, that Becky (@becky-beee) took to her TikTok to urge committed commandos to reconsider.
But she had her work cut out because there were more pantless devotees than those wearing them in the response to her videos.
“Listen I tried going commando in my leggings today,” she said in her post.
“And you know what, it’s just not happening. I don’t know how you girls do this sh*t.”
There was so much that could go wrong she said. Without underwear, there was little that could be done to disguise or prevent it.
“I like to have a little barrier between my lady parts and my pants,” she said.
“If that front seam gets out of place, it’s going to go right up in there and you may get some unsolicited rubbing at a time that might be fairly inappropriate.”
It was an accident waiting to happen, she said. What happened, she said, if you sneezed, coughed, or laughed: “You might pee your pants.”
The effects would be on view for all to see if there was no barrier, she figured.
“At least if you’ve got some kind of underwear on you’ve got a little bit of an absorber there.”
She worried about a woman’s monthly cycle too, this could be awkward.
“Let’s say your period starts and you’re not prepared. [But] if you have underwear on it can soak some of it up.”
She was unlikely to ditch her pants any time soon. Going commando was a no-go area for her and it was likely to stay that way.
“So I’m just going to continue wearing my paper-thin thong with my leggings.
“This commando bullsh*t is not for me. Underwear and leggings for ever.”
Her viewpoint was in the minority in the comments section. Going commando was popular and was the future for many.
“Commando is the way to go girl,” said one person in a response typical of many more.
Another felt passionate about ditching her pants: “Commando is life-changing for me. Do it.”
This person had been pantless for decades: “Commando since I was 16 and I’m 60. Hate underwear.”
But there were some voices who were not fans.
“I tried it and always had a wet spot or a dried wet spot,” said this viewer.
And this person was never going to try it: “I literally can’t do the commando thing in leggings, especially at the gym.”
