EastEnders fans spot clue in cryptic Christmas murder trailer proving who will be the killer
CHRISTMAS is a handful of weeks away and fans are trying to work out who will live, kill and die during this year’s murder mystery.
EastEnders bosses recently released a brand new trailer teasing the whodunnit and viewers believe they have found a crucial clue.
Six of Walford’s most iconic ladies will be involved in an upcoming murder teased earlier this year through a macabre flash-forward scene.
But since it was aired, the scene has also been accompanied by a series of trailers, allowing regular BBC One viewers to play detective and figure out who could be killed off at the end of the year.
However, a new trailer has also prompted them to work out who amongst Suki Panesar, Linda Carter, Sharon Watts, Denise Fox, Kathy Beale and Stacey Slater would be capable of killing the unknown male victim.
This along with clues from scenes and several theories that have emerged online have led viewers of the London-based drama to figure out one of the Six will be the dreaded killer.
According to viewers, one song playing on the jukebox in the most recent trailer featuring all main protagonists of the storyline has been pointed out as an eerie echo to a past episode of the long-running show.
Ironically, the scene mentioned involves one of the suspects – Diane Parish‘s Denise Fox.
One observant viewer worked out what song was being played in the recent Christmas trailer before learning that it had also been played in December, 2020, during a scene between Denise and her sister Kim Fox.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the soap viewer penned: “ON THE JUKEBOX IN THE TRAILER ‘IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER’ IS PLAYING.”
“THROWBACK TO THIS SCENE BETWEEN DENISE AND KIM IN DECEMBER (!!!!!!!!) 2020 – IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER IS PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND.”
The scene mentioned by the viewer featured a panicked Denise who was terrified her serial killer ex Lucas Johnson had returned.
At the time, the hairstylist was keen to stop him from getting what he wanted, adding his aim was “all about power.”
Denise had also referred to scenes during which Lucas had locked her up and faked her death, which resulted in Albert Square residents heading to her funeral.
While this could be a red herring, Denise could be given reasons to take out two men in the Square, both of which have been speculated to meet their ends on Christmas.
Denise’s husband Jack Branning has been suspected by viewers to embark on an affair with Stacey Slater as the pair grow closer.
But Denise has also had a run-in with Ravi Gulati, Nish Panesar’s son, much like Sharon Watts and even Stacey Slater.
Jack and Ravi are two male characters who have been theorised to be killed at the end of the year, along with Nish Panesar, Dean Wicks, Phil Mitchell, Keanu Taylor and Rocky Cotton.
Speaking of which, another detail about the jukebox has hinted that Kathy Beale, Rocky’s wife, could turn into a killer this Christmas.
Kathy actress Gillian Taylforth appeared in a behind-the-scenes episodes and eagle-eyed fans have pointed out that the words “Jukebox Gilly” were shown on her dressing room door.
The jukebox appearing in the Christmas trailer has left soap watchers firmly convinced Kathy could be responsible for the upcoming murder or team up Denise before causing damage.
Are theories correct?
EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
