That’s going to be a fun one
It’s a busy day around the ACC as BC takes on Central Connecticut, Western Michigan visits Notre Dame, NCCU goes up to Charlottesville to take on the Cavaliers, Georgia Tech drives over to Athens to take on Georgia, Cornell makes the annual trek to Syracuse and UNC goes to the Garden to see Danny Hurley’s UConn.
That’s an enormous opportunity for UNC. Hurley has really jacked UConn back up to glory day standards.
Come to think of it, we should talk about them when we talk about programs that had to move on from iconic coaches. It took a few years, but UConn appears to have nailed it.
Armando Bacot will have his hands full with Donovan Clingan and UConn has just smoked every non-conference opponent other than Kansas. And they will not be happy about that last game either. Should be fun.
BC should certainly beat 2-5 Central Connecticut. And while we’re thinking about it...how do they get away with being the Blue Devils? Duke has always defended its IP aggressively. That’s kind of odd.
Like CC, Western Michigan is 2-5 but that school is periodically dangerous and has a tradition. They nearly beat Northwestern early on so don’t assume it’s an easy win. We’ll still go with the Irish, but keep an eye on this one.
We love what LeVelle Moton has built in Durham but a win here would be as shocking as UNC-W’s win at Kentucky. Just can’t see it. However, with Reece Beekman playing hurt and Dante Harris out, Virginia might be vulnerable.
Will Georgia Tech relapse a bit after the win over Duke? Could be. And Danny White is a solid coach. If Tech is close to what we saw Saturday, we’d take them here. Unfortunately there’s no way to be sure of that.
Cornell is an irritant for Syracuse and with Adrian Autry installing his system, they could catch them on a bad night. But it seems a long shot. Judah Mintz should be motivated after getting his hat handed to him by Virginia.
