Strictly star hits out at show after Nigel Harman’s injury and exit – blaming PRO DANCERS for his nasty accident
THE former Strictly Come Dancing star took a swipe at the show after Nigel Harman was axed.
The Casualty actor, 50, was due to perform a Charleston to a Disney‘s Mary Poppins number on Saturday’s BBC1 live quarter-finals.
However, he was forced to leave the show after injuring his rib in rehearsals.
Nigel appeared on the show for the last time on Saturday, where he and a tearful Katya, explained that he had to withdraw from the competition.
Now, former Strictly pro James Jordan has had his say on the actor’s exit.
James is less than impressed with how Nigel sustained the injury, with the professional dancer even blaming the fellow pro dancers on the show.
In a chat on James Jordan’s The Truth with Hello! he stated: “I do feel sorry for them, I’m gutted.
“And this is the problem you see when you have other professional dancers involved in a dance which gives you the opportunity to do silly things like jump off of stages into people’s arms or whatever he was trying to do which has then injured him.
“I’m a purist, so I don’t feel Strictly needs all that.”
He went on to say: “It wouldn’t have happened if they weren’t trying to do silly things like jump off stages, stick to the Latin and Ballroom dances and they would still be in the competition.”
James seemed to think that if the routine hadn’t involved fellow pro dancers and “silly” jumps, Nigel would not have had to leave the programme.
A source detailed Nigel’s exit over the weekend, stating: “Nigel wasn’t in training this morning, and other dancers were informed later on in the day. He and Katya were really disappointed as they were hoping to stay in the competition.”
The actor could be seen holding back tears on the show as he spoke of his injury, explaining: “I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some handsome men, and as I flew I was Peter Pan and as I landed I was in A&E.
“I’ve done something to my rib, it’s quite painful and I’m a little bit high on painkillers but I’m having a lovely time.”
