Dolphins-Titans predictions: Will Miami cover huge spread on Monday Night Football?
Dolphins (9-3) vs. Titans (4-8), Monday, 8:15 p.m., ESPN
Latest line: Dolphins are favored by 14 points
Dave Hyde, Sports Columnist (Season record 9-3): Dolphins 31, Titans 14
The Dolphins are piling up wins against bad teams — just like you’re supposed to do — and Tennessee fits the mold. It’s a step up from Washington and the Jets in this stretch but the Dolphins defense should cause problems for rookie quarterback Will Levis and Tyreek Hill should step deeper into the MVP race.
Chris Perkins, Dolphins Columnist (Season record 8-4): Dolphins 38, Titans 14
The Dolphins are at home against a sub-.500 team. You know they’ll win, the only questions are the final score and the winning margin. Oh, and whether wide receiver Tyreek Hill stays ahead of the pace for a NFL-record 2,000 yards receiving (at 123.4 yards per game he’s currently on pace for 2,098 yards).
David Furones, Dolphins Writer (Season record 10-2): Dolphins 34, Titans 16
The connection between quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Tyreek Hill is flowing. The run game is churning. The defense is stout. Everything’s working for Miami, and it all keeps on rolling on Monday Night Football against the struggling Titans, who have lost four of their last five games.
Kathy Laughlin, Sports Editor (Season record 10-2): Dolphins 38, Titans 13
The Dolphins are in a groove right now. Playing in front of a national TV audience, at home (where they are undefeated) against a 4-8 opponent, they should take care of this. Tennessee has scored 16 or fewer points in seven games this season, meaning Miami’s defense should have no problem. Miami’s league-leading offense amassed 406 yards in last week’s rout of Washington.
Keven Lerner, Assistant Sports Editor (Season record 11-1): Dolphins 30, Titans 17
The AFC East-leading Dolphins are 14-point favorites over the reeling Titans for good reason. The only real question is if they will cover the huge spread on Monday Night Football. Miami has won three straight games since its bye week and is 9-3 for the first time since 2001. The streaking Dolphins also tightened their grip on the No. 1 seed in the AFC and are a full three games up in the AFC East with five games remaining. The Dolphins play four of their last five games at home.
Steve Svekis, Assistant Sports Editor (Season record 8-4): Dolphins 23, Titans 13
The Titans are starting an immobile rookie quarterback in Will Levis, who, as one might expect, has particularly struggled in road games, saddled with a 74.8 passer rating, 10 sacks and a fumble in those three games, with Tennessee’s offense averaging a paltry 12 points a game. The Titans defense and run game have provided some support, but, again, a baseline performance by the Dolphins should result in an unchallenged path to 10-3 and a continued march to being the AFC’s top seed in the playoffs.
