New Jersey man dies after being struck by tractor-trailer on I-95 in New Haven
A New Jersey man was killed after he was struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in New Haven Tuesday.
The collision was reported shortly after 5:30 a.m. on I-95 South where 55-year-old Alexis Vincente of Union City, New Jersey parked the truck he was driving in the triangular area near the Exit 46 off-ramp and got out of his vehicle for “unknown reasons,” according to Connecticut State Police.
A 40-year-old East Windsor man driving a tractor-trailer south in the right lane struck Vincente, state police said.
The first troopers on the scene performed life-saving measures on Vincente before he was taken in an ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he died of his injuries, according to state police.
The tractor-trailer driver did not report any injuries.
State police said I-95 South was closed for hours after the crash Tuesday morning.
The crash remains under investigation.
