Colbert knows Trump never read Hitler's manifesto — unless it was in a children's book
Teleprompter Donald Trump probably read a preschool version of "Mein Kampf"— if he read any of the former German leader's manifestos at all.
Comedian Stephen Colbert sarcastically took a dig at the former president for channeling Hitler with the recent "blood poisoning" reference.
The "Late Show" host cited Marc Short, who served as former Vice President Pence's chief of staff, appearing on a Fox News Sunday panel casting doubt that the 77-year-old Trump was aware of what he was saying.
"I think it’s highly unlikely that Donald Trump has ever read Mein Kampf," Short said to a host of laughs among panelists.
Colbert then chimed in: "Right because it's a book."
And then he suggested if Trump read anything of Hitler's it would have been at a Fisher Price level.
"He probably got the one with pictures — Mein First Kampf," he said.

Saturday's Trump rally in Durham, New Hampshire featured the former president ripping immigrants using the language of fascists that have come before him.
“They're poisoning the blood of our country," he said. "They’ve poisoned mental institutions and prisons all over the world. Not just in South America, not just the three or four countries that we think about, but all over the world they’re coming into our country from Africa, from Asia."
Colbert responded, asking, "They're poisoning the blood of our country?"
He then answered his own question: "Our country isn't being poisoned by immigrants it's being poisoned by dipping pizza in ranch dressing."
