High school sports roundup (Dec. 18)
Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Monday, Dec. 18.
Girls basketball
Harford Tech 44, Aberdeen 36: The Cobras earned the road win behind Sophia Mace’s 12 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Jess Castro backed her with nine points, three steals and three assists. Abi Marcello added seven points and 12 rebounds, while Jordan Strang also pulled down 12 rebounds.
C. Milton Wright 56, North East 23: The Mustangs got double-digit scoring efforts from Jordan Miller (18), Sam Wolfkill (11) and Emma Jankowiak (11) en route to a dominant Monday night win.
Bel Air 55, Elkton 39: The Bobcats took a narrow four-point deficit into halftime before racing to a convincing win behind a game-high 18 points from Paige Feick. Allie Brown added 14 in the win.
Rising Sun 54, Havre de Grace 36: Azareya Whiting scored 12 points and Savannah Lawrence added nine in the Warriors loss.
Boys basketball
Century 72, Hammond 63: The Knights picked up the nonconference win to move to 4-0. Ben Chenoweth led the way with 24 points. Nick Baron added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Westminster 57, Glenelg 54: The Owls fell behind 25-10 after one quarter but rallied back. Tanek Zitta had a pair of key baskets in the final 11 seconds to secure the win; he finished with 17 points. All 10 of Micah Ozgar’s points came in the second half.
