CT motorcyclist hospitalized after ‘slamming’ into back of pickup truck
A motorcyclist was hospitalized after crashing into the back of a pickup truck in Bridgeport just after midnight on Monday, police said.
The Bridgeport Police Department‘s Emergency Operations Center received several calls about a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck around midnight on Monday. A caller described a motorcycle “slamming into the back of a vehicle and the operator being unresponsive,” according to police.
The collision occurred at the intersection of North Avenue and Wells Street and involved a 2018 gray Dodge Ram pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on North Avenue and a gray Kawasaki motorcycle riding behind it, police said.
American Medical Response, the Bridgeport Fire Department and Bridgeport police responded to the scene. The motorcyclist, identified only as a 44-year-old Bridgeport resident, was transported to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, according to police. The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene and was compliant, police said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Bridgeport Police Department’s Serious Crash Team, police said.
“I remind everyone to drive safely throughout the holiday season and exercise caution during inclement weather,” Bridgeport police Captain Lonnie Blackwell said in a release on Monday.
