Antiques Roadshow viewers left red-faced by racy ‘orgy painting’ – fuming ‘my mother can’t watch this!’
ANTIQUES Roadshow fans were left red-faced after a man brought in a painting of a nudist colony.
The painting, titled “The Nudist Colony Annual Dinner Dance”, depicted a group of people dancing in a hall completely naked.
After seeing the picture antiques expert Phillip Mould quipped: “I’ve got to ask you; do you have a recreational interest in nudity?”
The guest said he didn’t before adding that it hangs in his bathroom.
Philip commented that he enjoyed how humorous the picture was, referring to the fully clothed women sneakily watching the naked dancers, to which the man replied: “Every time I look at it I see different bits of comedy in there.”
Unable to resist a joke, cheeky Philip responded: “Different bits certainly!”
Viewers couldn’t believe what they were seeing on the show and took to X – formerly Twitter – to express their shock.
One simply wrote: “THEY’RE ALL IN THE NIP! #AntiquesRoadshow”.
Another added: “Its antique porn”.
A third viewer joked: “That must be English people only we would drink tea at an orgy”
But the content was a bit embarrassing for some viewers, with one writing: “The Annual Nudist Dinner Dance on #AntiquesRoadshow… my mother can’t watch for blushing.”
As the artist, Fred Yates, was a friend of the man’s mother Phillip said that that would add value to the painting.
He said: “I think there’s a lot of flesh on the bone – with this one and I’d put it at five or six thousand pounds.”
Antiques Roadshow airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
