IPL 2024 Auction: Twitter Erupts As Pat Cummins Breaks All IPL Records
New Delhi: Australian captain Pat Cummins shatters all previous IPL records and became the most expensive player in IPL history after Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bought the star pacer for an astonishing amount of 20.50 crores. The record was earlier held by England’s Sam Curran who joined Punjab Kings for an amount of 18.50 crores.
Pat Cummins is also the first player in the history of the Indian Premier League to breach the 20 crores mark. This happened days after the star pacer led Australia to a memorable victory in the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
The whole social media was set ablaze with the bidding war between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Fans across the globe were stunned to see RCB bidding around 20 crores on Cummins when they only had 23 crores in their purse
Cummins and 20 crores started trending on X formerly known as Twitter in a few seconds following the extraordinary bidding war for the Australian World Cup-winning captain.

Sunrisers Hyderabad entered the auction with 34 crores and 9 slots to fill (6 Indians and 3 overseas). However, the Hyderabad-based franchise spent almost 28 crores for just 3 players as they brought in Pat Cummins for 20.50 crores, Travis Head for 6.80 crores, and Wanindu Hasaranga for 1.50 crores.
The SRH side look quite sorted now and still have somewhere around 6 crores to bag in 6 Indian players. The side already had big names like Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, Glenn Phillips, and Washington Sundar.
