'Bilking his cult members': Ex-GOP operative pulls lid off new Trump scheme
In his latest cash grab, former President Donald Trump is now selling off pieces of the actual suit he wore in the mugshot for his Georgia election racketeering case to his supporters.
On one hand, this is just another attempt to bilk money out of his supporters, experts told Salon's Chauncey DeVega — but on the other hand, it represents something deeper: Trump loves the idea that one of these supporters could make it onto his jury in that trial.
That's the view of Cheri Jacobus, a former Republican operative turned Never Trump activist.
"The faux billionaire bilking his MAGA cult members out of their rent money to pay his bills is in line with Trump's lifelong habit of blatant cons and scams for which he routinely pays little, if any, price," she said. But beyond that, "He knows all he needs is just one MAGA juror secretly and lovingly fondling the piece of Trump's mug shot suit in his or her pocket and he's back in power — just as Vladimir Putin planned."
Former clinical psychiatry professor Dr. Justin Frank agreed, adding, "Though long-suspected, Donald Trump is now officially showing full-blown signs of someone with delusions of grandeur. Enter his newest incarnation, the divine Saint Donald of Queens."
This comes at a time when experts are warning it could already be difficult for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to select a fair jury in the Georgia case; she has allotted a month for jury selection, but the process has taken several months in some of her similar racketeering cases, including against rap star Young Thug.
