Oddsmakers think the Detroit Pistons might finish with the worst record in NBA history
The Detroit Pistons are having a historically bad time right now.
Stuck on a 24-game losing streak with no end in sight, Detroit (2-25) has squandered what could’ve been a building season for the franchise by taking so many steps back.
Possibly worst of all, the Pistons have robbed the city of countless free wings simply by refusing to win a game.
It’s really shocking. Before the season, oddsmakers had Detroit’s win total set at 27.5 — not great, but not the worst — and fooled many at For The Win into believing they could exceed that number.
Now though? That line has plummeted hard. On DraftKings Sportsbook, the question is no longer whether or not the Pistons can close in on 30 wins. It’s whether or not Detroit can even crack double digit victories.
While the books still lean “Yes”, there is plenty of value on the “No” side.

Holy yikes.
Even when the Philadelphia 76ers stripped their franchise down to the studs at the height of “The Process” in 2016, the team still found a way to win 10 games.
Only one team in NBA history has finished a full 82-game season with single digit wins: The 1972-73 Sixers (9-73).
The feat has also been accomplished by the 1998-99 Los Angeles Clippers (9-41), 1998-99 Vancouver Grizzlies (8-42) and the 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats (7-59) in shortened years while the 1947-48 Providence Steamrollers went 6-42 in a full NBA season that consisted of far fewer than the now-standard 82 games.
Detroit currently has the sixth-toughest schedule remaining in the league this year, per Tankathon, with multiple matchups each against the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves still to come.
Lots of bettors will be looking to see if there are more than seven wins left on the Pistons’ slate. Those unable to may have a nice payday in their future.
