Peyton Manning Comically Explained How He Mistakenly Ran Banned Play in His Son’s Youth League

The controversy over the Tush Push has spread all the way to Peyton Manning’s son’s youth football league.

Manning detailed the hilarious story during Monday night’s ManningCast broadcast of the Eagles-Seahawks game. Of course, the Eagles are at the center of the Tush Push controversy, and Peyton used the opportunity to show some tape of the seventh grade youth football team he coaches that includes his son Marshall. The clip showed perfect execution by the Cherry Creek Bruins, with Marshall Manning plunging into the end zone amid laughs from Eli Manning and guest Christian McCaffrey.

Peyton Manning gave himself plenty of credit for the team’s execution. Peyton is the head coach of the team, while fellow former NFL player Terrell Davis also helps lead the team. Unfortunately, the play was a one-hit wonder, as referees told him afterwards that the play was illegal.

“I was like ‘The Eagles do it in the NFL,’” Manning said. “[The ref] is like ‘This is not the NFL’... they banned it in our league!”

I guess Peyton will have to find new ways to give his team an edge. The youth team does supposedly have more than 200 plays in its playbook though, and that plus a pair of bright football minds on the sideline should give Cherry Creek quite the leg up on the competition even without the tush push.
