Kate Garraway’s Good Morning Britain replacement revealed as she waits by Derek Draper’s hospital bed
KATE Garraway will be replaced on Good Morning Britain by Ranvir Singh.
The presenter has cancelled all work commitments as she waits by her sick husband Derek Draper’s hospital bed.
The Sun revealed Derek is fighting for his life after a huge heart attack.
Kate and his family have kept a 24-7 vigil over the former political adviser who was struck down with Covid in 2020.
Three and a half years on, Derek is still battling a number of health problems. The virus caused brain inflammation, kidney failure, and liver and pancreas damage.
Kate is said to be preparing her kids for a heartbreaking Christmas without their dad Derek at home.
After stepping back from GMB hosting duties, Kate will be replaced by Ranvir on Thursday’s show.
She has been filling in for Lorraine this week, but told viewers: “I’m getting up a bit earlier tomorrow because I’ll be bringing you Good Morning Britain.
“Louise Minchin will be in the hotseat here. She’ll be joined on the safe here by Meera Syal.”
Derek was first rushed to hospital with Covid in March 2020.
After falling into a coma and being put on a ventilator, he spent 13 months in hospital — making him Britain’s longest suffering coronavirus victim.
One brain scan last year showed white patches, usually seen in patients with vascular dementia.
He has undergone a series of inconclusive lung tests and still has difficulty breathing unaided.
