Police: 70-year-old CT woman reported missing over weekend found dead
A woman reported missing this weekend was found dead Tuesday, police said.
Veronica Young, 70, was reported missing by family members on Saturday. She was last seen on video on the 100 block of Fairfield Avenue in downtown Bridgeport around 4 p.m. on Friday, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.
A silver alert was implemented by the Connecticut Department of Public Safety on Saturday, police said.
On Tuesday, an unidentified woman was found at 10 Barnum Dyke in Bridgeport around 8:45 a.m. The woman was later identified by family members as Young, according to police.
The Bridgeport Police Department Forensic Identification Unit was called to the location to process the scene.
Young’s body was transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of her death.
“On behalf of Chief (Roderick) Porter and the Bridgeport Police Department, our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Mrs. Young,” Bridgeport Cpt. Kevin Gilleran said in a release on Tuesday.
