Man arrested with 174 bottles of illegal booze

A 47-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday after police said they found 29 boxes containing a total of 174 bottles of illegal booze hidden in his car.

In joint operation, customs officers and police stopped a commercial vehicle crossing the Ayios Dhometios crossing from the north.

During a search of the vehicle, authorities discovered 29 boxes with a total of 174 bottles of alcoholic beverages hidden in specially designed compartments in the boot of the car.

The contraband was confiscated, and the driver was arrested.
