I was on Love Island but went straight back to my old engineer job and now I’m happily married
A FORMER contestant that was on Love Island has gone back to his old engineer job and is now happily married.
After failing to find love in the villa, The Welsh man became the first contestant on the ITV2 dating experiment to be dumped from the Island in 2019.
Callum Macleod had previously quit his job to be on the show.
The 32-year-old is an aircraft engineer from South Wales.
Since leaving Love Island, the reality star has returned to his normal day job despite his fifteen minutes of fame.
And it seems although he may not have found love in the villa – he found it outside.
Callum is happily married to his wife, Jade Macleod, the pair tied the knot in June at Llanerch Vineyard in Pontyclun, Wales.
Callum shared sweet photos of him and Jade on their special day, with the caption : “A day we’ll remember forever,” with a white heart emoji.
The former Islander revealed the news he had popped the question to his girlfriend in October last year.
After getting down on one knee at sunset, the aircraft engineer shared the heartfelt moment with his followers on Instagram.
He completely caught Jade off guard, while she was posing for a photo against a breathtaking coastline.
After setting up the camera, Callum quickly rushed over to Jade and pulled out a ring from his coat pocket.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Callum has been in this job for one year and nine months.
The Welsh hunk also has a ‘1st Class Bsc (Hons) degree in Mathematics’, along with ’11 years of progressive experience’ within the aircraft industry.
Callum was the first Islander to be booted off the show in season five, after failing to woo one of the female contestants and secure a partner during the recoupling.
He was originally paired with Amber Gill, but it soon became clear that they were just friends.
At the time of his elimination, he said: “It’s unfortunate that I didn’t meet anyone that I connected with but I had such good fun in there.
“Even though I didn’t meet anyone that I could potentially be with on the outside, I loved it, which is a great bonus.”
When he was dumped from the villa, fans feared he may have to sign up to the dole, but he reassured them that he had plenty of “options.”
Speaking on This Morning he said:”I’ve got my trade, I’ve got my experience.
“Even if I have to go elsewhere or to another company …
“And my boss was a huge fan of the show. He was the one who convinced me to go on it …. so there’s options there.”
On his Instagram account, which boasts 223k followers, Callum shares regular pictures of himself with his wife, friends, and family.
The couple have traveled all over the world together, exploring amazing destinations like Croatia, Greece, Spain, and more.
Callum often shares snaps from their fun holidays on his feed.
The pair look absolutely smitten as they pose sweetly, hand-in-hand, in the photos.
