CT state police arrest man allegedly driving 120 mph on I-95
A New York man was arrested early Wednesday morning after Connecticut State Police allegedly clocked him driving at speeds up to 120 mph on Interstate 95.
A trooper monitoring traffic on I-95 North in the area of Exit 64 in Westbrook reportedly observed a Mercedes traveling at a high rate of speed just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, according to state police. After allegedly clocking the Mercedes driving at speeds up to 120 mph in a posted 65 mph zone, the trooper initiated a motor vehicle stop.
Following a brief on-scene investigation, the driver, identified as 25-year-old Zhicheng Wu of Flushing, New York, was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop F in Westbrook. He was processed and charged with reckless driving, state police said.
Wu was released on a $500 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 5, 2024, at Middletown Superior Court.
