Coronation Street star reveals cobbles is set for ‘power battle’ as love rivals wage war on each other
CORONATION Street’s Bethany Platt star teases ‘clash’ with rival Daisy Midgeley.
Bethany Platt – played by Lucy Fallon – makes a dramatic comeback to Weatherfield this festive season.
The teen left the cobbles back in 2020 after breaking up with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and left to start a new life in London.
Her unexpected return aligns with the breakup of Daniel and his fiancée Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), after Daisy cheated on Daniel with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).
Will Daniel rekindle his romance with Bethany?
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, Lucy shared the drama and relationship in store for Bethany and Daisy.
The blonde beauty said: “I think because Daisy is a strong female character, Bethany is also a strong female character.
“I feel like they’re going to clash and also they both want the same thing. I think there will be a power battle between them both.
“But, I also think that I can’t imagine Bethany, with everything she’d been through in the past to do with men and all the stuff with Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper), I don’t see her just being out to get another woman or girl on the street for a long period of time.
“I’d like to think that eventually they would be more friends rather than hating on each other like they are at the moment!”
Is there unfinished business between Daniel and Bethany?
The soap star added: “I would say they probably haven’t spoken at all in the time that she’s been away.
“I imagine when they bump into each other again, they’re both in new situations, they’re in different parts of their lives, I feel like it will spark that connection again!
“Whether she pursues it or not I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say.”
Daisy actress Charlotte teased that Daisy will see Bethany as a threat when she returns to Coronation Street.
Charlotte commented: “She’s beautiful, she’s been told how successful Bethany is living it up in London and Daisy is a naturally jealous, territorial person.
“Bethany had that connection with Daniel when he was at his most vulnerable which will instantly put Daisy on high alert and I have to say it’s a relationship I’m really looking forward to playing around with.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
