I went to Aldi and it was a stressful nightmare – I don’t know what’s worse, obstacles in aisles or people who touch veg
A WOMAN has revealed that she went to Aldi in a jolly mood, but left feeling incredibly stressed at her ‘nightmare’ food shop.
Ellie Young, the Ibiza Weekender and Big Brother star, explained that she doesn’t know what’s worse about Aldi – the obstacles in the aisles or the people who touch the veg.
It comes after shoppers rated Aldi as the nation’s most popular supermarket, according to polling data from YouGov.
However, this Aldi shopper clearly disagrees, as she took to social media to open up about the horrendous experience, as she claimed: “I moan every time but still go back.”
As she sat in her car feeling overwhelmed, she said: “So I’ve just come out of Aldi as we just needed a few bits.
“I went in feeling quite jolly, come out and yeah, wow.”
Ellie then expressed her frustration, as she continued: “I just don’t know what’s worse. You’ve obviously got the people who want to touch up the chicken or the vegetables.
“You’ve then got the people with the trolleys who see their mate who they go to bingo with, so they stand chatting, one on each side. So they’re blocking people from getting through.
“And then you’ve got the big cart because obviously they need to restock the shelves, but that is then another obstacle.
“And yeah, then it’s the people who stand in the doorway. They’re waiting for their lift and they’re stood in the doorway because it’s raining, fair enough, but how do you want people to get out?”
Reflecting on her chaotic food shop, she added: “I just need an absolute minute. That was so busy, there were trolleys everywhere.
“Anyway, I’ll probably go back.”
Ellie later added: “I just needed a few more bits and my god it was stressful.
“It’s a nightmare!”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ellieyoung1993, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 15,200 views.
Many social media users shared Ellie’s frustration and were eager to voice this in the comments.
At the same time, other shoppers shared where they prefer to get their groceries.
One person said: “That’s why I don’t shop in Aldi.. Lidi is better and they have self serve.”
Another added: “[It’s] why I always go late at night, people annoy me.”
A third commented: “That’s why I pay £35 per year for an Asda delivery slot. What it costs you in petrol, plus the chance of getting your car pranged!”
Whilst someone else chimed in: “That’s why I go to M&S at 7pm!”
Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi, said: “Low prices never go out of fashion which is why Aldi is – and will continue to be – loved by so many.
“Our unbeatable combination of high-quality products at low prices has helped us attract around a million new customers in the past year alone, but we’re not stopping there. We’re investing £1.4 billion over the next two years to help bring us closer to even more households.”
