The Proteas beat India comprehensively by an innings and runs 32 runs to get 1-0 lead in a 2-match Test series. South Africa put up 408-10 on board in their first innings after senior campaigner Dean Elgar scored 185 off 287 balls with the help of 28 fours. He was duly supported by all-rounder Marco Jansen who remained not out at 84.
