‘Why have we never thought of this?’ Genius hack makes packing a Christmas tree away in a box super easy
WITH Christmas over for another year, we will be soon trying to figure out how to get our trees back in the box.
If you are dreading the trip to the attic, there is a simple hack for keeping Christmas decorations together and you’ll be shocked you didn’t think of it.
Decorating your home is meant to be part of the festivities, with the kids joining in as you put up the Christmas tree together.
Sadly though, it can often be more frustrating than fun.
Whether you have missing bulbs, tangled fairy lines or endless broken bits of tinsel scattered everywhere, unboxing decorations is probably the least enjoyable part of Christmas.
One woman however, has shared a foolproof hack for making sure your ornaments aren’t in a mess next year and Mrs Hinch would definitely approve.
Initially shared on the cleaning guru’s Facebook group, the user revealed her handy tip for packing away her artificial tree with one household staple: cling film.
Not only will this cheap item will keep things tidy, it also creates extra room for decorations as the woman explained.
Posting in the group, the user showed off her prewrapped tree neatly tucked in it’s original box – with plenty of room for extra ornaments.
Having shared the photo, she explained: “Christmas tree packed down with enough room in the box for the lights as well… I cling filmed all the matching branches together for easy assembly next time.”
It seems she isn’t the only one to use the hack though, with other members saying that they also used this tried and tested method.
Another added: “It’s [a] great idea I cling filmed mine, went in the box so easy.”
Meanwhile, a third admitted that they had also used the hack although it wasn’t ‘as neat’ as the other user’s.
Others were keen to test the packing hack, with some even questioning why this wasn’t taught to them as kids.
“Brilliant idea! Mine all slung in lol,” said a fourth user, with a fifth complaining: “Why have we never thought of this?”
Some even had their own take on the hack, with one woman resorting to using a pair of old leggings to tie her tree together because she ‘didn’t have enough’ cling film.
Well, we guess it is a more eco-friendly option – especially if you were going to throw them out anyways.
She wasn’t the only one with an alternative packing hack, as another user suggested wrapping fairy lights around an old tube to stop them from getting tangled.
“Didn’t think about cling filming the tree, but I did wrap the lights around a wrapping paper tube so it’s easy to unroll them next time,” she explained.
For those really looking to save space this festive season, you could also use tubes with paper still on them so it doesn’t get crinkled or torn before next year.
It seems like you are all set for next Christmas with these hacks – even if it is nearly a year away.
