Ipswich want £37m Man Utd star who smashed 13 Championship goals last season
Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United winger Amad Diallo in January.
This is according to Sunday Mirror’s Darren Witcoop who says the Championship outfit have stepped up search for a striker after a long-term injury to George Hirst.
The Tractor Boys believe Amad to be a good fit who has also sparked an interest from Southampton.
The 21-year-old hasn’t played a game this season after suffering a serious knee injury during pre-season.
He has recently returned to training but another loan stint looks on the cards for the Ivorian, who is contracted to United until 2025.
Should United sanction a loan in January?
Amad, who joined the Reds Devils for £37 million in 2021, was expected to get more game time at Old Trafford this season following his excellent 2022-23 loan stint at Sunderland.
The 21-year-old featured in 37 Championship appearances last term, netting 13 goals and contributing three assists. But he picked up a serious knock in the summer that kept him out of action for the first-half of the campaign.
Amad is now close to regaining full fitness and we believe that United should give him a chance to prove his abilities.
The Ivorian mainly plays as a right winger but he can also be deployed as a centre-forward as well as an attacking midfielder.
Antony has been playing on the right wing but the Brazilian has been disappointing with his performances, failing to score in his 15 league appearances.
Amad is still very young and hasn’t played a lot of football, and so we are not saying he is ready to be a regular starter. But he can be a good option for manager Erik ten Hag to have on the bench.
