After a decline in daily cases, the emergence of a new variant and cold weather conditions have led to an increase in infections. Since the beginning of the pandemic, over 4.5 crore people have been infected and more than 5.3 lakh have lost their lives in India. However, there is some positive news as the recovery rate stands at 98.81%, with over 4.4 crore people having recuperated from the disease. The country has also administered a total of 220.67 crore doses of Covid vaccines.
