BBC forced to apologise as Breakfast segment pulled from screens in technical blunder
THE BBC has been forced to apologise after a technical blunder resulted in a segment being pulled from Breakfast.
Bosses at the corporation issued an apology to viewers who tuned into BBC Breakfast on Wednesday.
The flagship show, which was presented by Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell, covers regional news during its broadcast.
At multiple points in the show local weather and news teams bring viewers the news where they are.
However, for BBC North West fans, they were left with no bulletin this morning.
While baffled viewers took to social media to comment, the BBC has revealed a technical blunder is to blame for the show coming off air.
Taking to social media, a spokesperson said: “We apologise but we are unable to bring you our local news from the North West at the moment during @BBCBreakfast due to a technical problem, but you can keep up to date with our local news online.
One BBC viewer wrote on social media: “Ah, I was wondering why I west getting Yorkshire news.”
Others were less patient, with one posting: “Wouldn’t it be great if we could just apologise to the #BBC like that for not paying the #tvlicense.”
“No news is good news when it’s the BBC,” said a third.
While a fourth jokingly commented: “Put an extra £10 in the leccy meter.”
Meanwhile, BBC Breakfast fans were tuning out of the show as they blasted bosses for a string of ‘moronic’ interviews.
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
