EastEnders in epic blunder as soap broadcasts F-bomb in middle of Peggy’s club scene
EASTENDERS appears to have found itself caught up in an awkward blunder as it broadcast the F-BOMB during its New Year’s Day episode.
The moment, which many fans are likely to have missed, came as a group of Walford’s younger residents enjoyed a night out at Peggy’s as they counted down to the New Year.
Although set on New Year’s Eve, the BBC first broadcast the clip on Monday this week in which the expletive could be heard.
As the East End revellers – including axed Ben Mitchell, Callum Highway, Anna and Gina Knight, Bernie Taylor and Felix Baker – got ready to dance the night away, the dance tunes were blaring in full force.
During one of the scenes, Animals, by DJ Martin Garrix, was blasting through Peggy’s as the group enjoyed a slew of shorts.
However, it seems as though EastEnders bosses failed to correctly vet the song as it appeared as though the explicit version played out in the background in pre-watershed scenes.
Having done a shot, Gina shouted over at the group to take a selfie when the error occured.
Playing aloud, the chorus to the song features the lyrics: “We’re the f***ing animals.”
The blunder appears to have gone largely unnoticed with the swear word still audible on BBC iPlayer.
The track features a radio edit which edits out any trace of the swearing but it is the original version which appears to have been used in the BBC soap.
In the episode, Peter Beale ended up leaving the club early to take home a girl he had met before eventually getting a call from his ex Lauren Branning in Paris who told him that she was coming home with their son.
Disaster soon struck as Lauren was arrested for carrying drugs through the airport which are believed to have been planted on her by Penny during the commute.
