EastEnders fans stunned as they discover real life age gap between George Knight and his on-screen dad
EASTENDERS fans have been left stunned after learning the real life age gap between George Knight and his on-screen father.
The long-running BBC One soap introduced the pub landlord’s parents to the show over the festive period.
It was revealed to fans that George, who is played by Colin Salmon, was adopted by his parents.
After a decade of not seeing his mum and dad, Gloria and Eddie turned up to the Queen Vic.
But as George questioned why they were visiting, he was left rocked when they revealed they were paid to adopt him as a child.
However, puzzled fans have diverted their attention from the new storyline and to the actors’ ages.
Taking to social media, one EastEnders viewer pointed out how George Knight star Colin is 62 years old.
His on-screen dad Eddie, who is portrayed by Christopher Fairbank, is just 70.
The fan posted in shock: “Colin Salmon (George Knight) is 62 years old!?
“Even more astounding, Christopher Fairbank (George’s adoptive father Eddie) is only 70! There are only 8 years between these two actors…”
George was adopted via a process known as farming which saw children advertised for money for parents looking to give children a home.
It will spark questions regarding George’s real heritage and will differ from that of what his parents had led him to believe.
Viewers will quickly realise that Gloria and Eddie are not what they seem as it’s clear both are still concealing secrets from their son.
Eddie’s racist ideologies will come to the forefront as his fractured relationships with his family are exposed as they challenge him on his views.
EastEnders airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
