‘No razor bumps’ says gymnast as she reveals the perfect shaving routine for a totally smooth and bump free bikini line
A PROFESSIONAL gymnast has revealed how to achieve a perfectly smooth bikini line with not a single razor bump in sight.
If there’s anyone who knows a thing or two about silky smooth bikini lines it’s gymnasts who have to sport teeny leotards when performing – and now one such exercise pro, Lara, has come to rescue with a few tips.
Like many, Lara, too, used to find her skin covered with red bumps – but now, after being in the game for several years, she’s totally changed the game thanks to her shaving routine.
Prep & Exfoliating
According to the pro, from Canada, there are a few key things to remember when going for a shower – and there are steps to follow even before you’ve grabbed your razor.
The first step, she explained to her 189k followers on TikTok, was exfoliating, to remove any dead skin and untrap ”hairs that are trapped underneath the first layer of skin”.
Although there are plenty of brands to pick from, the Canadian was raving about the Honey-Infused Sugar Scrub by the brand Mi-El.
The product, which is available on Amazon , also has a number of budget-friendly alternatives in Boots and Superdrug.
The shaving process
Sharing her special routine, the whizz revealed she shaves right at the very end of her shower, as being in the steamy water for longer will make the hair follicles to ”soften”.
When it comes to shaving, Lara advised to first step out of the stream to water – ”because otherwise the water is just gonna wash all your shaving cream away”.
”What I do is I will pull my skin up and shave down using short strokes of the razor.
”I don’t like use really long strokes or rub up and down because this can cause irritation,” she explained in her video.
Whilst there have been heaps of debates whether women’s razors are any different to men’s, Lara revealed she prefers to stick to a men’s four to five blade razor.
”This is just what works the best for me and make sure you’re changing your razor blades every six shaves.”
Another pro tip, the beauty fanatic added, was to never throw the razor in the shower, as this will only make the blades go ”dull faster”.
Aftercare
Once out of the shower, it’s best to pat the skin dry and apply a bikini-friendly oil, as well as a cream to prevent any bumps.
When purchasing these, the gymnast urged to ensure the ingredients list contains glycolic acid, which is known to tackle bumps, as well as prevent ingrown hairs.
”Basically, what I’ll do is I’ll apply the bikini oil on my hand and then apply it all over my bikini line, and then allow it to absorb for like 30 seconds.
”I am constantly getting asked my best tips for shaving my bikini line to get the smoothest and softest shaving without any irritation so here is the best shaving routine you will ever come across,” she previously said.
Fellow beauty lovers raced to comments, where one said: ”Literally buying everything, thank you for your service.”
”THANK YOUUU SO MUCH,” someone else chimed in.
Another reckoned: ”Get laser. It’s worth it.”
”I don’t have an hour…” penned a fourth who thought the routine was time-consuming.
