The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has relaxed quality control order norms for air conditioners and related parts. Hermetic compressors with over 7,000 W capacity have been removed from the order for one year. The government has also exempted 200 goods imported annually for research and development, but these will not be sold in the market.
