'That's actually not true': Fox's Harris Faulkner battles Nikki Haley over slavery remarks
Fox News host Harris Faulkner challenged Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley Wednesday after she initially failed to admit that slavery was the cause of the U.S. Civil War.
During an interview on Wednesday, Faulkner asked Haley about the firestorm that followed after she dodged slavery when a voter asked her what started the Civil War.
"And I would ask that you would acknowledge, too, that perhaps you haven't taken every question, because your recent fallout over the civil war and slavery comments have generated a lot of attention," Faulkner told Haley. "And I would ask, what have you learned?"
"Well, first of all, I will tell you this, that I said right off the bat, I did respond to it right away," Haley insisted. "When you grow up in the South, you grow up, and slavery is a constant comment, constant point of discussion. You learn it in school. You talk about it. The South is actually very comfortable with our history."

Haley said she did not initially mention slavery because she "just assumed that that was a given."
"But Harris, really, the media is the only one that has talked about this issue," the candidate argued.
"No, that's actually not true," Faulkner interrupted.
"Not one person on the ground in Iowa, not one person on the ground in New Hampshire or Iowa are talking about it," a frustrated Haley shot back. "It's amazing how you're going to take one question out of one hundred and fifty where I said immediately, yes, I should have said slavery. That's a given."
"One hundred and fifty town halls I've done, Harris," she added. "And so one question, I should have said slavery. I didn't do it."
