CT woman lies about child being in stolen vehicle to get faster response time: police
A woman was arrested for reporting her car stolen and allegedly falsely claiming that a child was inside to get a faster response time from police, authorities said.
The car theft was reported at 5 p.m. in the area of 10 Farmington Ave., New Britain, where 29-year-old Pamela Rodriguez of New Britain told officers a child was in the vehicle when it was stolen, according to the New Britain Police Department.
The police department said in a statement that the “investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen, however the complainant fabricated the story of her child being in the vehicle to facilitate a faster police response.”
“No child was ever in any danger,” police said.
Rodriguez is charged with providing a false statement and reporting a false incident.
Police said they will continue to investigate the car theft.
