A tusker was spotted near Malipada village and later seen in Ghangapatna and Gothapatna localities. The elephant entered a grille factory and returned to the Chandaka-Damapada wildlife sanctuary. It had previously visited Ranpur in Nayagarh district via Tangi. Forest officials are monitoring its movements. The tusker has also been observed in Shampur area and Sikharchandi Hills. In May last year, it was seen roaming in Maitri Vihar. As some of the portions of the wildlife sanctuary is in the city, wildlife animals especially elephants enter the city localities several times.
