I made £3.5k flogging old clothes on Vinted – it’s paid for nice hols… my top hacks so YOU can earn cash too
A THRIFTY woman has shared that she made £3,500 selling her old clothes on Vinted last year and said that she used the cash to splash out on a holiday.
Vinted is an online marketplace where people can buy and sell second hand clothes, shoes and accessories.
It’s completely free to upload clothes to the app and, unlike other sites like eBay and Depop, Vinted does not take a cut of sellers’ profits and instead charges buyers a small fee to purchase each item.
Lauren Eden Elizabeth shared her impressive earnings via a video posted to her TikTok channel @laurenedenelizabeth, where she often posts cleaning and room organisation videos.
Lauren’s best month for selling was February, where she made a whopping £865.
She also made an impressive £582 in October and £232 in November.
One some months, Lauren earned hardly any money as she was away on holiday so wasn’t uploading many items of clothing, but on her best months she said she was uploading lots and lots of clothes on to the website.
Replying to a comment posted under her video, Lauren said that she not only sells her own clothes, but that family and friends now give her their clothes to sell instead of them going to the charity shop.
Lauren joked that she “basically has no clothes left” now.
The savvy seller added that she used the ‘spotlight’ feature to help sell her items, which is where you can pay extra to have your clothes featured in a carousel on the site so that more people see them.
Lauren said that her earnings on Vinted aren’t enough for a full time job but said selling her clothes is a “great side hustle” that paid for an “extra holiday”.
However, people should be warned that under new laws, sellers on Vinted, eBay and Depop will have to pay tax on any annual earnings they make from the site over £1,000.
