Andrew Ness named BCHL First Star of the Month

PENTICTON, B.C. – The B.C. Hockey League (BCHL) announced the Three Stars of the month on Wednesday, and Penticton Vees goaltender Andrew Ness has been named the First Star of December.
This the third time this season a Vee has been named one of the BCHL’s three stars of the month. Ryan MacPherson was named the First Star of September and Will Ingemann was named the Third Star for November.
Ness, 19, played in five games last month and won all four of his starts. The Winnipeg, MB, product allowed just three goals in five games, as he posted a microscopic 0.66 goals-against average and .971 save percentage. Ness started and ended the month with clean sheets. On December 1st, he stopped all 28 shots he faced as he picked up his first shutout of the season, in the Vees’ 4-0 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings. He capped of December with a 19-save shutout against the Vernon Vipers on New Year’s Eve, as the Vees won 3-0 at Kal Tire Place. He also picked up wins over West Kelowna and Merritt last month. The 6-2, 157-pound netminder stopped 99 of 102 shots he faced in December.
Ness who is committed to Bemidji State University, is 7-1-1-0 on the season, with a 2.12 goals-against average and .911 save percentage. He also has two shutouts.
The Vees (21-5-2-2) are back in action this weekend, as they travel north to face the Prince George Spruce Kings (10-16-3-0) in a pair of games, on Friday, January 5th, and Saturday, January 6th.
