Mohsin Dawar survives armed attack during election campaign in Waziristan
Pakistani media outlets have reported that Mohsin Dawar, a former member of the Pakistan parliament and leader of the National Democratic Party of Pakistan, has survived an armed attack.
Dawn newspaper in Pakistan reported that the attack occurred on Wednesday, during Mohsin Dawar’s electoral campaign in the Miranshah area, the center of North Waziristan.
According to reports, the vehicle carrying the former member of the Pakistan parliament was bulletproof, and the attackers used SMG-type weapons in this assault.
So far, no individual or group has taken responsibility for this attack.
Previously, the vehicle carrying Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan party, was also attacked on a Sunday in the Dera Ismail Khan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Mohsin Dawar, elected to the Pakistan House of Representatives in 2018, is expected to participate in the country’s elections in another month.
Members of the National Democratic Movement have demanded an investigation into this attack.
Meanwhile, yesterday, six barbers in the former Tehreek-e- Taliban Pakistan (TTP) base in Pakistan near the Afghan border were killed by unidentified armed individuals.
