NATIONAL SUMMARY
A potent storm for the East will begin to take shape today,
bringing an area of snow from Nebraska into Kansas, with
rain mixing in across western Missouri. Rain will also fall
from eastern Oklahoma through Mississippi, with embedded
thunderstorms from the Texas coast through Louisiana. At the
same time, another storm and associated cold front will
bring sporadic snow showers to the Dakotas as steadier snow
falls during the afternoon in Minnesota. Snow showers will
also expand westward into the Intermountain West while
sporadic rain showers push ashore in Washington. Much of the
Northeast will dry out, with abundant sunshine throughout
the region ahead of the nor'easter for the weekend. It will
be largely dry elsewhere in the country with cool conditions
continuing in the Southwest.
