A Place in the Sun fans devastated as ‘heartbroken’ buyer’s husband dies just before moving to dream home
A PLACE in the Sun fans were reduced to tears after a home buyer’s husband tragically died before their move.
The beloved Channel 4 property programme has returned with a brand new spin-off series.
A Place in the Sun: What Happened Next revisits some of the show’s most memorable house hunters over the last 23 years.
Hosts such as Jasmine Harman, Laura Hamilton and Ben Hillman go and find out if the big move was worth it – and have snoop around the houses.
But the latest episode left viewers devastated as Amanda Lamb caught up with Dawn at her dream property in Italy.
Dawn and her husband Graham didn’t find a house while on the show but bagged their perfect home soon after.
However, Dawn fought back tears as she revealed Graham tragically died soon after.
In a devastating blow, he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer soon after filming wrapped.
Despite her horrific ordeal, Dawn ultimately decided to go ahead with the big move following, honouring Graham’s wishes.
She told Amanda: “One of the important things Graham said to me a few days before he died was, ‘Dawn, go and live the dream for both of us’.”
The emotional scenes proved too much for fans watching as they flocked to social media to comment.
One said: “This is so sad. Really wasn’t expecting it.”
A second wrote: “OMG how heartbreaking. Dawn is amazing to have carried on with their dream.”
“How inspiring is Dawn, so sad but so brave. Good for her,” said a third.
While a fourth posted: “How amazing is Dawn.”
Sharing words of optimism for viewers, Dawn concluded: “Whatever life throws at you, if it’s important enough, you can do it.
“And I’ve had support to pick me up and get me on my way again, my family came out and helped me loads in the beginning because the house was a mess.”
A Place in the Sun: What Happened Next airs weekdays from 3pm on Channel 4.
