The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 5th January) Leeds terminate Spence loan deal
Good Morning. It's Friday 5th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...
Leeds terminate Spence loan deal
Whites fans have been left dumbfounded after news broke last night that Leeds have terminated the loan agreement for Djed Spence. We may not have seen the best from the versatile wing back, having only recently recovered from a horrific knee injury he sustained in training, back in early September, but there's no doubting his pedigree.
Injuries to Stuart Dallas, Sam Byram, Jamie Shackleton and Junior Firpo has depleted Daniel Farke's options on the left, whilst Archie Gray continues to look questionable on the right! Should the 17yo sustain an injury, Leeds would be down to bare bones, especially with Luke Ayling departing for Boro.
There is not a single club in the Championship that wouldn't want Djed Spence on their books, top three included. Undoubtable Spence will go back out on loan, and who's brave enough to say that that his impact won't have a detrimental impact on Leeds promotion bid?
Rumours surface of Spence rift in dressing room
Rumours of Djed Spence being a disruptive influence in the dressing room are beginning to surface. Social media lit up this morning, as Leeds fans woke to find out the club had terminated Djed Spence's loan agreement. Whether this is true or not, Spence has proven pedigree at this level, and losing him could have a devastating effect on our season!
This would not be the first time that Leeds would take the moral high ground, and rid the club of disruptive influences. A certain Frenchman left Elland Road in 92 to join their arch rivals for pittance; a decision that would propel the red side of Manchester to stardom for years to come.
More recently, Pontus Jansson would get on the wrong side of Marcelo Bielsa, resulting in the Swedish International being omitted from the play off semi final which Derby would win 4-2. His subsequent transfer to Brentford would lead the Bees hierarchy to mock Leeds on social media for having let their star defender leave for just £5.5m.
Whether or not Spence was a disruptive influence shouldn't be hear or there - Leeds should have enough senior statesmen in their squad to keep things under control. Would failure to win promotion have a worse impact on the dressing room than one bad apple?
Leeds want Moore
Leeds are one of five Championship outfits keen on signing Bournemouth striker Kiefer Moore this month. He has fallen out of favour at the Vitality Stadium under Andoni Iraola, and are prepared to let him go out on loan as long as his £40,000 per week salary can be covered. This won't be a problem for Leeds, but could be a challenge for Cardiff City, Ipswich, West Brom, Birmingham, Middlesbrough and Sunderland. Moore is 31 year old, and a Welsh International with 39 caps. He will already know Dan James, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon, which could influence the deal further.
Aston Villa and Brighton join Summerville hunt
Aston Villa and Brighton are the latest clubs to be circling around Elland Road, preparing to swoop for Leeds talisman Crysencio Summerville.nThe Dutchman has been in devastating form this season, netting twelve, and providing six assists during the first half of the season. His contribution is the main reason why Leeds have stayed in touch with a chance of automatic promotion.
Money talks, and rumours of top clubs with European aspirations will undoubtedly be playing on Jimmy's mind! Would Leeds be brave enough to turn down an offer of £40m?
