The Sopranos creator reveals future of series after hit prequel movie The Many Saints Of Newark
THE creator of smash-hit series The Sopranos has lifted the lid on the future of the series.
It enthralled viewers as it followed the fortunes of the New Jersey Soprano family and their mobster dad Tony.
The HBO series made its debut in 1999 and ran for six series before its axe in 2007.
Lead star James Gandolfini, who played Tony Soprano, has since died.
In 2021 fans were left delighted as a prequel to the series was released.
The film looked further back into Tony’s childhood in never-seen-before scenarios.
James’ real-life son Michael stepped into his dad’s role as he played a young Tony Soprano.
However, the show’s creator David Chase has confirmed there are no more projects in the works.
Speaking to TV Insider, he simply said: “No. The prequel was it.”
HBO’s chief content officer Casey Bloys had previously cast doubt on any future instalments.
He said: “I don’t think David has any interest in revisiting The Sopranos. And I would agree with him.
“It’s a perfect series that I don’t think needs revisiting. But we’ll see what he wants to do next.”
