Suspects allegedly claiming to work for city distract elderly couple during CT burglary
Police are investigating a residential burglary in Norwalk involving two suspects who used a ruse claiming that they worked for the city while a third person entered the home and made off with stolen goods.
Police officers responded to a Coventry Place home on Wednesday on the report of a distraction burglary, according to the Norwalk Police Department. The elderly complainants told police they were approached outside of the home by two suspects who said they worked for the city and needed to check the property lines in the backyard, police said.
While the pair distracted the complainants, a third accomplice is believed to have gone into the home, stealing jewelry, police said.
The suspects communicated with each other using two-way radios and were seen leaving in a silver Dodge crew cab pickup truck, according to police. A photo of the suspect vehicle has been released by police.
Two of the suspects have been described as standing 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches with medium builds and beards, police said.
