ITV viewers convinced Masked Singer has landed it’s biggest EVER star as Maypole after ‘major clue’
MASKED Singer fans are convinced they know who Maypole is, and if their guess is correct it would be the show’s biggest ever pop star.
During her first appearance on the ITV singing competition the figure hinted at her identity, telling viewers: “The audience are watching so I’ll give it the sell, it’s something I learnt since the year of Orwell.”
Immediately judges started trying to think of celebrities who had a major event happen in 1984, which is the title of George Orwell’s most famous novel.
And some viewers think they’ve sussed it out after realising that Katy Perry was born that year.
The American popstar has also released nine songs that made it to the top of the charts in her lifetime, which could be considered best ‘sellers’, fulfilling the other part of the clue.
One person shared their thoughts on Instagram, saying: “Katy Perry, born 1984.”
When someone suggested that would be too obvious, they replied: “I don’t think so, all of the other possibilities are born after 1984, so it can’t be them, myself I’ve not heard of her recently so she could have been doing this.”
Another agreed: “Katy Perry 100 per cent.”
A third wrote: “Katy Perry xx”
Elsewhere other viewers were left convinced that the Maypole is Rita Ora herself as she went missing as one of the judges for the show.
Stand up comedian Mo Gilligan was the first to voice the theory, saying: “I think it might be Rita Ora.”
Others took to X agreeing with his suspicions.
