Acator Shia LaBeouf has converted to Catholicism. He was confirmed on New Year’s Eve at a Mass presided over by Capuchin Franciscan friars. The Capuchin Franciscans-Western American Province posted images on social media of a smiling LeBeouf receiving Communion, kneeling at Mass and hugging monks during the ceremony. LaBeouf has admitted to alcoholism and has been accused by a former girlfriend of abuse. He spent months in a California friary preparing for the role of one of Italy’s best-known and most revered saints in the 2022 film, “Padre Pio.” The “Transformers” actor has said the chance to play the mystic Capuchin monk was a miracle for him personally.
