‘Pretty sure’ – Journalist makes claim about Spurs links with Dominic Solanke
Journalist Dean Jones believes that Dominic Solanke would be an excellent addition to Tottenham Hotspur but insisted that Bournemouth will not allow their star striker to leave the club mid-season.
Solanke has taken his game to a new level since Andoni Iraola took over at Bournemouth last summer and the Englishman is now arguably playing the best football of his career.
The 26-year-old already has 12 Premier League goals to his name this season and it was reported by The Sun last week that Tottenham are plotting a move for the Chelsea academy graduate.
The outlet suggested that some at the North London club feel that the Cherries star is capable of shining at a higher level and view him as the man to fill Harry Kane’s shoes.
However, the report made it clear that Ange Postecoglou’s men are looking at the centre-forward as a potential option for next summer rather than January.
No January sale to Tottenham for Dominic Solanke
Jones believes that Bournemouth will not entertain any offers for Solanke during this month’s transfer window, with the journalist suggesting that the South Coast club are aware that they have a ‘very special’ player on their hands.
When asked about Tottenham’s rumoured interest in Solanke, he told GiveMeSport: “Definitely [he would be a good signing]. I think when Kane left Tottenham, if you would have suggested in that moment, ‘oh let’s sign Solanke to replace him’, you would have been laughed out of town.
“But, watching him across the course of this season, he’s getting back to those levels that he had about him when he was a kid emerging. Think of the transfers he’s made in his career already, and the level of spend that clubs have been willing to make on him.
“There’s a player in there that’s very special and Bournemouth know that and that’s why they’re trying to issue hands-off warnings and put a big price tag on his head. They do not want anyone to come hunting for him in January, and I’m pretty sure Bournemouth won’t sell him in January.”

There is no doubt in my mind that Postecoglou would want to add a top-class centre-forward to his squad next summer to provide some competition to Richarlison, with Alejo Veliz likely to be sent out on loan.
At this point, it seems like Solanke and Santiago Gimenez are the two top targets for the Lilywhites, who perhaps would have an outside chance of signing Ivan Toney if he does not leave Brentford in January.
