Always A Good Reason – Former Everton Star Wants To See Toffees Do Business
Former Everton star Michael Ball believes that the Toffees need to bring in players even if it is on loan and explained that new faces help to freshen things up.
Despite a ten-point deduction, Everton have managed to get themselves out of the relegation zone, but their form has taken a recent dip with three straight defeats in the league.
Due to their financial situation, Everton boss Sean Dyche has indicated that the Toffees are expecting a quiet January transfer window.
Ball, however, stressed the need for the Toffees to bring in new players and insisted that Everton must sign new players, even if they bring them on loan.
The ex-Toffees star added that new signings would bring a fresh breath of air as well as competition into the Everton camp.
“We’ll have to wait and see on [Dwight] McNeil’s injury but while January is always a difficult window and funds are tight, you’d hope that the club will be trying to get new faces in, even if it’s just a loan to get us through this period”, Ball wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.
“Kevin Thelwell has come out to talk about the situation, which was great to see as we’ve been calling for more communication with the fans and at least we know where we stand.
“I always like to see new faces coming into the club.
“It’s not just in terms of the numbers, which is obviously something we could benefit from, but it keeps the tempo and the levels up in training.
“When new faces come in, everyone has their eyes on them.
“You think, ‘does he do things differently, does he have anything I can add to my game?’
“It freshens things up and can keep people on their toes as it raises their game.
“That’s always a good reason to bring someone in.”
Everton are set to take on Aston Villa at the weekend and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to end their winless run against Unai Emery’s side.
